Look in the Shrewsbury Yellow Pages under ‘Printers’ and you’ll find over 100 names. So how on earth do you choose which one is right for your job? Here are some useful pointers. And yes, here at BPG we tick all the boxes.
Are they interested in doing your job?
A large printer will of course be happiest producing big jobs.
Try and get a personal recommendation
Most of our clients come back time and again, usually over years.
Do they understand what you want?
No problem if you’re an expert print buyer, but it is helpful if someone explains any technicalities in plain language.
Are they local?
Much easier to deal face to face, and to be able to pick your job up if you are in a real hurry.
Do they give real value?
For most printing jobs, quality is important. So beware of prices that seem too low, there is usually a sting in the tail. But it’s worth getting two or three prices from good printers—you can be sure that a price is keen.
Delivery dates important?
If you need a guaranteed delivery date, you need a printer who understands deadlines.
If things go wrong…
Will they bend over backwards to sort any problems out? While problems are rare, it’s worth making sure they stand by their work.
What about design?
Most artwork nowadays is provided as a computer file, and supplied either on disk or sent by email. Either your graphic designer will supply, or the printer will be able to format your work.
How do I keep the costs reasonable.
Talk to the printer when the job is being planned—things such as the choice of paper, size of the job can all have an impact. A discussion at an early stage could well save you money.
